Committees

More than one dozen volunteer committees act as the workhorse of the Association. Committees are chiefly responsible for creating and organizing member programs and events.

Joining a committee is the best way to contribute your skills and knowledge to the Association. Committee meetings are also ideal venues to build rapport with fellow members and generate additional business for you and your company.


Parade of Homes

Purpose:

·         Creates meaningful marketing opportunities for builders and associates to showcase their products and services.

·         Establishes event rules and fees.

·         Publicizes the event through a variety of local media outlooks

Home Show

Purpose:

§  Creates meaningful marketing opportunities for builders and associates to showcase their products and services.

§  Oversee the plans for the event from reviewing the contract, to set-up and take down.

§  Publicizes the event through a variety of local media outlooks

 

Meeting Date:

September – February

Membership

Purpose:

·         Review membership applications and make recommendations of applicants for board approval.

·         Develop and implement programs to recruit and retain members.

·         Plans and conducts new member orientation sessions.

·         Coordinate membership drives.

·         Coordinate Spike Club recognition.

Second Monday of the month.  September - May

Associate Advisory

Purpose:

§  Serve as the spokesperson for associate members.

§  Committee members attend the state (WBA) quarterly Board Day meetings.

§  Coordinate member promotional displays at General Membership meetings.

Auction Committee

Purpose:

§  Raise political funds for the Building a Better Wisconsin (BBW) Political Action Committee, which helps preserve and protect the home building industry.

§  Solicit donations for the silent and live auctions held in October of each year.

§  Organize and display auction items.

Building a Better Wisconsin

Purpose:

·         Oversee the commitments for Building a Better Wisconsin (BBW) Political Action Committee.

·         Inform members of the platforms for national, state, and local politicians.

·         Committee chair attends the state (WBA) quarterly Board Day meetings.

Building Codes

Purpose:

·         Stay abreast of codes in the building industry.

·         Convey any pertinent information to members in a timely fashion.

Building and Grounds

Purpose:

·         Oversee the WHBA office building to insure the investment in the building remains as a focal point.

Holiday Party

Purpose:

·         Plan the annual holiday party.

·         Coordinate the Associate and Builder of the Year awards.

Education/Programs

Purpose:

·         Assess educational needs of members.

·         Inform members of state educational requirements.

·         Recommend locations, speakers and entertainment for General Membership Meetings.

·         Recognize members' educational achievements.

Website

Purpose:

·         Oversee the design and content of our website.

Governmental Affairs

Purpose:

·         Develop and coordinate local governmental goals.

·         Coordinate local action on state and national issues.

·         Develop and maintain relationships with local officials.

·         Encourage member participation in the political process

·         Raise funds for political action.

Arbitration

Purpose:

§  Provide services to members and consumers for addressing construction related disputes.

§  Members serve as impartial inspectors/arbitrators, adjudicating to Uniform Dwelling Codes.

Public Relations

Purpose:

·         Promote, enhance, and cultivate the overall image of WHBA.

·         Act as an advocate for safe, quality and affordable housing.

·         Act as a resource for housing information.

·         Plan the advertising of the Home and Garden Show and the Parade of Homes.

Rummage Sale

Purpose:

·         Coordinate rummage sale event.

Scholarship

Purpose:

·         Responsible for selecting recipients from the students in our community who are interested in construction-related careers.

 

Meeting Dates:

Two to three times per year.

State Involvement

Purpose:

·         Encourage member participation on state committees and at state functions.

·         Promote benefits of state involvement to members.

Strategic Planning

Purpose:

·         Plan for the future growth of the association.

Toys for Tots

Purpose:

·         Collect donations and gifts for needy families in the community.

Whitetails Banquet

Purpose:

·         Coordinate ticket sales and help out the night of the event.

·         Proceeds go towards the scholarship fund and the operating budget of WHBA.

Ethics

Purpose:

·         Oversee all ethical issues of the association.

·         Act as a sounding board for the members throughout the year.

Finance

Purpose:

·         Oversee the funds of the association.

·         Guide the Board in financial matters of the association.

 

Meeting Dates:

Quarterly

Golf Outing

Purpose:

·         Find a course for the event, collect donations, and set-up foursomes.

·         Event is held in June or July of each year.

·         Proceeds help offset expenses of the association.
